SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea’s spy agency says that about 3,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia and they are now receiving training on how to use drones and other equipment before being deployed to battlefields in Ukraine. National Intelligence Service Director Cho Tae-yong gave the assessment to lawmakers Wednesday during a closed-door briefing. The NIS said last week that North Korea had sent 1,500 troops to Russia earlier this month. Lawmakers who attended the meeting with Cho say that NIS assesses that North Korea aims to deploy a total of 10,000 troops to Russia by December.
