El Paso man arrested after police say they found 17,000 child porn images in his home
EL PASO, Texas -- A 30-year-old El Paso man has been arrested after police said they found over 17,000 images of child pornography during a search of his home.
30-year-old Oscar Garcia Jr. was being held Monday in the downtown jail on $40,000 bond on charges of possession of child pornography and possession with intent to promote child pornography.
Detectives said they received a tip from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about Garcia Jr.'s internet activities and executed a search warrant at his home in the 5800 block of Batiste, where they discovered several media storage with thousands of images.
"Files in the devices contained pornographic photo images and video of children ranging in age from 4 years to 17 years," said police Sgt. Enrique Carrillo.
Garcia turned himself into El Paso police on Friday after warrants were issued for his arrest following the search.
