Armed woman taken into custody after east El Paso standoff ends
EL PASO, Texas -- An armed woman who may have fired shots triggered a several hour standoff with a police SWAT team Friday evening that ended in her arrest, authorities said.
The events ensued in the 11000 block of Diana Candia in east El Paso after officers responded to a family argument.
As the standoff ended, 23-year-old Britini Green was taken into custody on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; police said she was armed with a gun.
A police spokesman said Green had barricaded herself inside the family home with a 5-year-old boy who was related. The standoff ended without incident and police said the boy was unharmed.
Police said there were unconfirmed reports of shots fired earlier in the evening, but no injuries had occurred.
During the standoff, police shut down a one block radius surrounding the scene and officers carrying assault rifles were widely visible in the area.
