El Paso man charged with capital murder in killing of infant
EL PASO, Texas — An El Paso man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the killing of an infant, police announced Tuesday.
Detectives said 24–year old Marvin Rex Lake was babysitting several young children earlier this month while the children's mothers were at work. When they returned, investigators said they found one of the children, a 1–year-old boy, was unresponsive.
The young boy was rushed to a hospital and placed on life support, police said, with doctors determining there were multiple injuries including a fractured skull. Doctors told police the injuries were not the result of an accident.
The child died last Friday, authorities said, and Lake was arrested on Monday.
Lake was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he remained held without bond on Tuesday.
