Las Cruces man faces felony charges for alleged sexual relationship with 13-year-old girl

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- A Las Cruces man was arrested Thursday on multiple felony charges of criminal sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl.

Alexander Ray Diaz, 23, was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he was being held without bond on the allegations.

Investigators wrote in a report that "Diaz started the inappropriate relationship with the girl about one year ago when she was only 12 years old."

Las Cruces police said they viewed electronic messages between Diaz and the girl that documented the relationship.
