El Paso bar fight among women led to 1 man shot dead, 3 hurt; victims from Ft. Bliss
UPDATE #2, Dec. 6: Detectives said Monday that a mass shooting at a central El Paso bar the night prior stemmed from a fight involving groups of women at the bar.
Authorities also revealed that the man killed and at least two of the three wounded victims were from Fort Bliss. Investigators said the four were shot by an unknown man who "walked up and indiscriminately fired shots at the
victims."
When police arrived at the Headquarters Bar on Tularosa Avenue Sunday night, officers said they found two men shot in the parking; two other men who suffered gunshot wounds later showed up at local hospitals.
The identifies of the shooting victims were not released, but police said the ages of those wounded ranged from 22 to 29.
"Investigation has revealed groups of females were escorted from the Headquarters Bar after having been involved in arguments and fights. The fights resumed in the parking lot with the victims attempting to separate those involved in the fight," police wrote in an incident report.
Detectives indicated the shooter walked up and opened fire on the four men while they were trying to break up the fight involving the women.
"The shooter then ran to a car parked across the street at the public parking lot next to police headquarters and fled the scene," police said in their report, noting that the gunman had yet to be identified or arrested as of midday Monday.
A police spokesman on Monday urged anyone with additional information about the shootings that could help lead to the capture of the gunman to contact police or call Crime Stoppers.
Sgt. Kiki Carillo said The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission was also investigating whether the over-serving of alcohol to bar customers may have been a contributing factor to the shootings. Depending on the determination of the TABC, the bar could face suspension or revocation of its liquor license.

Of those victims from Sunday night's shooting at the Headquarters Bar on Tularosa Avenue, one victim died at the scene while three others were wounded - with one hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
There was no word of any arrests yet nor did police reveal any motive for the mass shooting.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Dec. 5: El PASO, Texas -- Three people were shot Sunday night at a central El Paso bar, with one of the victims killed in the gunfire.
It happened around 9:15 p.m. at the Headquarters Bar, located in the 2900 block of Tularosa Avenue. The bar is nearby the El Paso Police Department Headquarters at 911 N. Raynor Street, which brought a quick response and a large police presence.
Witnesses told ABC-7 that they heard about a dozen gunshots coming from the bar.
Police said one shooting victim died at the scene, while two others were wounded and taken to local hospitals. First-responders said one of those hospitalized victims was critically wounded.
Authorities said no arrests had yet been made in the shootings and Crimes Against Persons detectives were at the scene late Sunday night trying to determine what led up to the gunfire.
Other bars that are close by in that same neighborhood had to shut down for the night as a result of the shootings and the police investigation.
The ownership of Headquarters Bar also owns the Chino Chido bar in the Cincinnati Entertainment District; it was the scene of a fight that led to a shooting and murder back in February and the establishment had its liquor license temporarily suspended.
