Accused Cielo Vista jewel thief allegedly hits Far East Ulta Beauty

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso County Sheriff deputies arrested multiple people in connection to several thefts at the Ulta Beauty on the 13300 block of Gateway West.

A spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office said that deputies secured a criminal warrant for Adan Gutierrez, 42. Gutierrez is accused of stealing $500 worth of merchandise from the Far East El Paso Ulta Beauty on March 4, 2025. Officials say that Gutierrez previously face arrest for the alleged theft of jewelry from the Cielo Vista Mall.

During their investigation into the Ulta theft, detectives worked with Texas DPS crime analysts to identify Gutierrez with a facial recognition system. They secured a criminal warrant for Theft of Property ($100 - $750) with a bond of $15,000.

Deputies also arrested American Aileen Rodriguez Escareno, 20, and Mexican national Jesus Alonso Reyes Guevara, 24, after officials say they stole $1,900 worth of makeup from the Ulta Beauty on February 18, 2025.
Then, a Sheriff Office officials said that CBP officers recorded Rodriguez and Guevara crossing the border in the same car they left the store in 40 minutes later. Detectives secured arrest warrants for the pair and on March 31, when customs agents again encountered Rodriguez at the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry, arrested her. Detectives booked Rodriguez in the downtown jail and the car was impounded. Guevara is still at large, Sheriff's Office officials say.
