Ukraine media say Kyiv saboteurs were behind drone attacks on air bases deep inside Russia

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine media are reporting that a pair of recent drone attacks on air bases deep inside Russia that hit parked bomber aircraft were the work of Ukrainian saboteurs coordinated by Kyiv’s military intelligence services. One newspaper says the recent attacks on the airfields in northwestern and southwestern Russia destroyed two Russian bombers and damaged two other aircraft. Other reports Tuesday said groups of saboteurs were behind the strikes. Ukrainian officials made no comment, and it was not possible to verify the claims on the ground. Ukraine has since early this year sought to take the war into the heart of Russia and is trying to keep up the pressure on the Kremlin along multiple fronts.
