Teen accused of shooting tourist in Times Square and firing at officer arrested after search

NEW YORK (AP) — A 15-year-old accused of shooting a Brazilian tourist in the leg Thursday night then firing at a police officer while fleeing through Times Square has been arrested just outside of New York City. Police say the teenager was taken into custody Friday at a residential house in Yonkers. Police say a security guard confronted the teen and two others who were shoplifting. The shooter pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and fired, hitting a tourist. She is expected to survive. As he fled, police say he fired twice at an officer chasing after him before he disappeared into the subway system.
