Mexico just decriminalized abortion. Does that mean El Pasoans can seek services in Juarez?

JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) -- Juarez residents are reacting to the news that the Mexican federal government is decriminalizing abortion nationwide.

ABC-7 spoke with Juarez residents, specifically women, about this announcement. Many of them tell ABC-7 it is a step forward for the feminist movement in the country.

Many questions are still up in the air, however, on how abortions will work now in federal and private hospitals, as well as if and how women from the U.S. could enter Mexico to seek abortion services.

ABC-7 also reached out to the Mexican Women's Institute in Juarez to learn more about the resources women in Juarez can access as they seek an abortion.
