Police arrest armed robbery suspects after foot chase outside Cielo Vista Mall
El PASO, Texas -- Some tense moments Wednesday afternoon outside El Paso's Cielo Vista Mall as police chased on foot a group of armed robbery suspects before catching them a short time later.
There were conflicting reports initially about whether the mall was briefly on lockdown as events unfolded outside.
It began about 1:30 p.m. when officers stopped a vehicle with as many as a half-dozen potentially armed suspects in it, police said.
Those armed robbery suspects then took off on foot from the vehicle and fled through the mall parking lot, police said, but officers were able to take them all into custody in under a half-hour.
Police did not respond to requests for further comment, so no additional details were available.
