Salopek Park shooting suspect pleads guilty to three charges

DONA ANA COUNTY, New Mexico (KVIA) -- A suspect in the Salopek Park shooting from September 2025 plead guilty to three charges Wednesday. 18-year-old Apolinar Rosales plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and unlawful carrying of a handgun, according to court documents.

Rosales faces three sentences: 18 months in jail, 11 months in the New Mexico Department of Corrections. After serving the sentence, he faces one year of parole, according to documents.

Documents said Rosales must pay a $5,000 fine and $100 in court fees.

19-year-old Julia Clark died in the hospital two days after the shooting. Court documents said Clark allegedly planned a gun robbery with her associates, which then turned into a deadly ambush.

Along with Rosales, several suspects are charged in connection with the shooting, including 19-year-old Esteban Munoz and 18-year-old Elijah Sambrano. Sambrano's case is still pending in courts.
