Water main break in west El Paso causes sinkhole; water flows downhill for miles

Crews work on a water main break that caused a sinkhole in the 4400 block of Stanton.

EL PASO, Texas -- A water main break on Thursday afternoon caused a sinkhole as well wet road conditions in a portion of west El Paso.

Crews were working to fix the leaking water main in the 4400 block of Stanton; one lane was closed for about a block for the work crews.

The water main break caused a sinkhole estimated to be about 10 to 12 feet in size.

In addition, water also flowed downhill for several miles, even causing wet road conditions along Mesa.
