Canutillo, El Paso ISD’s to open public Montessori schools

EL PASO, Texas -- The Montessori school is another option for parents to consider when it comes to their child's education. 

Canutillo's Pre-K Montessori will be at Garcia Elementary School.

There are other public school districts across texas that have Montessori schools, which is a child-focused type of school developed about one century ago. 

Canutillo will only allow a limited number of students in their program which opens up later in september.

But they're not the only district, Episd is also in the development stages of developing a Montessori school for more grade levels come next school year.

Superintendent diana sayavedra tells me it's opportunity to get creative in the public school system.. 

This comes after parents chose to enroll their kids in charter or private schools during the pandemic.//
