Police Chief Greg Allen and the impact he had on the community

KVIA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Chief Greg Allen joined the department in 1978 and rose through the ranks. Chief Allen has been El Paso’s police chief since March 2008.

He grew up in El Paso and graduated from Bel Air High School and also graduated from UTEP.

During Chief Allen’s time as Chief, El Paso was repeatedly ranked the nation's safest city based on crime data.

Allen also fought for a new $39 million El Paso Police Regional command center that will be built in the upper east side. The command center is expected to be completed in 2024.

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser stated that whoever is selected to be the new chief will do a great job because of Greg Allen's leadership.
