Semi-truck collides with power pole, leaving thousands in Sunland Park without power

(UPDATE @ 4:27 p.m.) — Power has been restored, but crews remain on the scene to repair the damaged power poles.

#UPDATE @ 4:15PM: Power has been restored to more than 2,600 customers. Crews are still on site making repairs to the downed power lines and to reconnect the remaining impacted customers.

El Paso Electric crews are on the scene of a crash to restore power to more than 2,600 customers in Sunland Park.

The crash happened around 2:30 Friday afternoon when a semi-truck collided with a power pole, according to officials.

The crash forced the closure of McNutt Road.

Crews estimated the power to be restored within a couple hours.
