9 new Doña Ana County virus cases, 4 more infections at Otero County detention facilities
SANTA FE, New Mexico -- New Mexico health officials are reporting 94 new coronavirus cases and four additional deaths.
State officials reported the new tally Thursday afternoon. They said testing has now confirmed 10,153 cases.
A total of 456 New Mexico residents have died of the virus.
Doña Ana County was just shy of ten new cases, reporting nine additional infections. It now has 685 cumulative cases.
New cases were also reported at a pair of southern New Mexico detention facilities.
There were three new cases among immigration detainees held by federal agencies at the Otero County ICE Processing Center, bringing total cases at the center to 141.
There was just one new case among inmates at the Otero County Prison, but the caseload tally to date at the facility is now 582.
The state's four new deaths included a woman in her 30's, who officials said had no underlying health conditions. It was one of New Mexico's younger deaths of the pandemic and occurred in hard hit McKinley County in the northwest corner of the state.
The state's other deaths all involved people over 70 who had underlying conditions. None of those fatalities were in southern New Mexico.
