‘Back the blue’: Several dozen rally in support of Las Cruces police

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Several dozen members of the Las Cruces community rallied near the police department in support of local law enforcement officers.

"I'd like to thank everyone here in the community who is here to support local law enforcement," said Officer Isaiah Baker with the Las Cruces Police Department. "I think it's important to show the community that we are here to protect the community we all live in."

Participants held signs that read "back the blue," "I proudly support law enforcement," and "I support those who walk the thin blue line."

Their show of support follows demands for police reform locally and around the country.

"It's actually a peaceful assembly," explained Robert Parra, president of the Las Cruces Police Union. "We want to display that positive attitude towards law enforcement.

He added: "we want to come to the positive solution, not with negativity, but with positive results"
