Tracking the wildfires in southern New Mexico

Update (5:46 PM): There are four wildfires burning in southern New Mexico at the moment: the Buck Fire, the Trout Fire, the 7 Springs Fire, and the Pinon Draw Fire. ABC-7 is actively tracking and reporting on all four wildfires. Watch our reporting above to see images and maps of the various wildfires.


RUIDOSO, New Mexico (KVIA) -- The U.S. Forest Service is warning residents in the Piñon area of a new wildfire burning nearby.

The Pinon Draw Fire started northwest of Piñon, New Mexico.

The fire is located in the southern part of the Lincoln National Forest.

There are currently two engines, one module crew, and volunteer firefighters form the Sacramento/Weed fire department.
