Police: El Paso man killed after losing control of vehicle, hitting rock wall
UPDATE: EL PASO, Texas – A 27-year-old El Paso man was killed early Friday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a rock wall.
El Paso police said Jorge Jara Quinonez was driving westbound along Montwood at a high rate of speed at about 12:30 a.m.
Investigators say Quinonez lost control of the car he was driving and slid sideways across the street. The vehicle then jumped a curb, struck a stop sign at Montwood and Pacheco Drive and crashed into a residential rock wall.
Quinonez died at the scene. No other people suffered injuries. Investigators say speeding contributed to the crash. This is the second traffic fatality of 2021 compared to zero at this time last year.
