El Paso reports 6 virus deaths, including man in his 30s, as vaccination rate continues to rise

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health announced six new coronavirus-related deaths and 73 new cases Tuesday.

The latest deaths included a man in his 30s, a man in his 60s, a woman in her 70s, 2 women in their 80s, and a woman in her 90s.

El Paso County's pandemic death toll now stands at 2,518. There are 67 additional suspected Covid-19 deaths currently being investigated by the health department.

El Paso health department data shows that 39.3% of El Pasoans over the age of 16 are now fully vaccinated, with 61.6% having received at least one shot.

The number of known active cases now stands at 2,335, a decrease of 40 from Monday.

There are 177 Covid-19 patients in El Paso hospitals, with 49 of those patients in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 133,533 confirmed virus cases in El Paso with 128,555 reported recoveries.
