Beto O’Rourke on Jimmy Kimmel, talks about Governor Abbott Busing Migrants; Abbott tweets to Biden Administration
LOS ANGELES, California -- Gubernatorial Candidate Beto O'RorukeĀ stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to talk about the issues Texas is currently facing.
O'Rourke spoke about immigration saying, "Sending these migrants to D.C., to Chicago, to New York, now to the Vice President's house isn't doing anything for them, not doing anything for us. It's not addressing the underlying challenge that we have in terms of our immigration system. The last time that we re-wrote the immigration laws in this country, Ronald Reagan was the President of the United States of America."
Meanwhile, Governor Greg Abbott tweeted, "Our supposed border czar, VP Harris, has yet to see firsthand the impact of the open border policies she has helped implement. Texas will continue sending migrants to sanctuary cities like D.C. Until Biden & Harris do their jobs to secure the border."
O'Rourke is inching closer to Governor Abbott in the Texas election matchup this fall, according to a poll released Wednesday byĀ the Texas Politics ProjectĀ at the University of Texas at Austin.
O'Rourke slightly trails Abbott, who is seeking a third term, by 5 percentage points among registered voters. Abbott held a 6-point edge in June in the last UT poll.
