El Paso man remains hospitalized after suffering a throat-slashing attack by stranger in Louisville

EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso man remains in the hospital after suffering a random attack when a stranger slashed his throat in Louisville, Kentucky October 24.

Oscar Sanchez is a facilities manager at the University of Texas at El Paso. He was attending a conference in Louisville, Kentucky, in his role as facilities manager.

Sachez was at the entertainment complex Fourth Street Live! when he suffered an unprovoked attack by a stranger.

A man, police identified as Sean Coats, ran up behind Sanchez and slashed his throat with a knife. Coats then continued down the street, where he went on to attack another person.

According to Sanchez's GoFundMe, he is listed in serious but stable condition in Louisville. He has already undergone surgery to repair the damage. It is unknown if Sanchez suffered any permanent damage to his vocal cords.
