Man arrested for criminal attempted murder in connection to Canutillo teen shooting

EL PASO, Texas -- A 20-year-old man has been identified as the man arrested in a weekend shooting.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Ezequiel Covarrubias shot a 16-year-old Sunday at the 9000 block of Curtis in Canutillo.

Investigators say the shooting happened around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Covarrubias was also arrested for outstanding criminal warrants for sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance, according to officials.

His total bond was set at $403,000.
