Cat rescued from Juarez prison coming to Texas – Fur real
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Egyptian cat with rescued from a Juarez prison will be adopted by someone in Texas.
The cat, which had been tattooed with symbols used by members of a criminal group, gained international attention over who would become its new owner.
According to the city of Juarez, ten adoption applications were received, most from Texas residents. Other applications came from Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey.
The review committee looked at the potential adoptee's ability to care for the cat economically and with a good home.
The identity of the new owner will be kept confidential. Officials did reveal one thing about the new owner: the person already has another cat of the same breed.
The cat already has all the necessary medical requirements to be allowed into the United States.
