Border Patrol agents find five people hiding following chase that ended with car on fire

UPDATE: Five people were found hiding in nearby restrooms following this morning's car fire were in the United States illegally, according to U.S. Border Patrol officials.

The discovery followed a crash investigation that left a car in flames at Suncrest Drive in west El Paso. Officials say the incident remains under investigation.

The five people were taken into custody for processing.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A large plume of black smoke can be seen in west El Paso. There are reports of a car fire near the Top Golf.

It happened early Thursday morning.

ABC-7 has a crew on the scene. Our crew reports many Texas DPS Troopers and U.S. Border Patrol vehicles.

A witness tells ABC-7 the driver ran from the car. The fire was out by 10:45 a.m.
