RTDNA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has awarded two regional Murrow Awards to ABC-7.

Stephanie Valle's Borderland Crimes podcast episode on the disappearance and death of Erika Gaytan won for best podcast from a television station in a small market.

Dylan McKim and Lesley Engle won for investigative reporting. Their story on the unfinished work of a local solar panel and roofing company won them the top prize in that category.

RTDNA was founded in 1946 with the mission of protecting and promoting responsible journalism.

"RTDNA defends the First Amendment rights of electronic journalists throughout the country, honors outstanding work in the profession through the Edward R. Murrow Awards and provides members with training to encourage ethical standards, newsroom leadership and industry innovation," the organization states on its website.

The awards for Region 6 were announced Monday morning. Region 6 includes Texas and Oklahoma.
