El Paso woman shocked in Jacuzzi at Mexican resort files lawsuit

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)-- ABC-7 has learned Lizzette Zambrano has filed a lawsuit against Casago LLC, Casago International and High desert travel, all companies that operate the resort where her husband died after being electrocuted in a hot tub Tuesday evening.

In the case Lizette Zambrano v. Casago, LLC, details reveal "Mr. Guillen entered the hot tub first and was immediately exposed to an electrical current and taken underwater. Witnessing her husband’s collapse, Ms. Zambrano raced to help but, according to the filing, she was also electrocuted and fell into the water with him."

Attorney Charles Bush, from Bush and Bush law group says relatives used a pole attempt to rescue Jorge. The current was still active and relatives who tired to assist were injured as well. Bush says they are taking legal action against all entities because there was not assistance available from resort staff.

"You shouldn't have any type of electrical current by a pool in of itself. But if something does arrive, you should have the proper policies and procedures to be able to at least to try to mitigate the situation and they did not", Bush said.

This information was released the same day Jorge Guillen was set to graduate from Western Technical college. Guillen was a part of the HVAC program, classmates I spoke with said the class was small only about 14 students and they were close.

One classmate, Leeroy Campos says they often shared stories about their families and bonded while completing projects, homework and discussion boards. The graduates held a moment of silence for their classmate durning the graduation ceremony. Dr. Maxine Valencia, President at Western technical college says they will give his degree to his family at a later date.

Attorney Charles Bush says their goal is to get justice for the family. As for Lizette Zambrano, attorneys tell us she has opened her eyes and is slowly trying to communicate. She is currently at a hospital in Phoenix Arizona but they are hopeful she will be released Friday. They say once she is released she will return to El Paso.
