One person confirmed dead after plane crashes at Las Cruces Air and Space Expo

UPDATE: (10/21/24) One person is confirmed dead after a plane crashed at the Las Cruces Air and Space Expo, according to New Mexico State Police.

Details remain limited.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- A plane has crashed Sunday afternoon at the Las Cruces Air & Space Expo.

Las Cruces Police Department spokesman Dan Trujillo confirmed the plane crashed at 2:30 p.m. near the Las Cruces International Airport.

The Las Cruces Sun News reported that one person has died following the crash, however, ABC-7 is working to confirm that independently, as well as the identity of the pilot.

New Mexico State Police has since taken over the investigation.

ABC-7 has reached out to both the NTSB, who confirmed they're also investigating the crash in Las Cruces, as well as the FAA.
