Otero County Fire-EMS District 1 warns of high water and flooding

CHAPARRAL, New Mexico (KVIA) - Riley Way and US HWY 54 are among the areas experiencing high water and flooding, according to the Otero County Fire-EMS District 1.

They are asking Chaparral residents to avoid the area on Riley Way as the high water is posing risk for smaller vehicles at the cattle guard.

Orlando and Mesilla are also beginning to flood.

Seek alternate route and avoided any streets with water.
