No Powerball winner, so jackpot now grows to $670M
UPDATE: Saturday night's Powerball drawing resulted in no winner, an official with the Multi-State Lottery Association confirmed on Sunday morning.
"There was no jackpot winner, so the jackpot is up to $670 million ($474.8 million cash value) for Monday's drawing," lottery spokesperson Anna Domoto said.
Saturday's unlucky numbers were 28-38-42-47-52 and the Powerball was 1. The next drawing is Monday night.
ORIGINAL REPORT: DES MOINES, Iowa — The biggest lottery prize in more than eight months was up for grabs in Saturday night's Powerball drawing.
The winning numbers are 28, 38, 42, 47 and 52. The Powerball is 1.
The jackpot has slowly climbed to an estimated $635 million thanks to 39 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner. The jackpot was last hit in June and has since grown for four months, according to Powerball.
Saturday's jackpot was the 10th largest in U.S. lottery history and was Powerball's sixth-largest ever. There hasn’t been a bigger Powerball jackpot since a $731.1 million prize was won on Jan. 20.
The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
The estimated jackpot amount refers to an annuity option, which provides 30 payments over 29 years. Most winners take cash, which for Saturday’s drawing would be an estimated $450 million, before taxes.
Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
