Kamala Harris, gun owner, talks firearms at debate

Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris said during Tuesday’s debate that she owns a gun, surprising some viewers. Harris raised the issue to rebut allegations from Donald Trump that she wants to confiscate firearms. Although Harris doesn’t talk often about gun ownership, she mentioned it in 2019 during her first campaign for president. Back then, her campaign said she had a handgun that she kept locked up. Republicans frequently paint Democrats as a threat to the second amendment, while Democrats say they want some restrictions to increase public safety.
