EL PASO, Texas - Canutillo running back LJ Martin has had a change of heart.

Back in April, the 3 star recruit verbally committed to play football at Texas Tech.

But the thing with verbal commitments is you can always change your mind.

Tuesday, Martin announced via Twitter that he's committed to Stanford instead.

Martin will graduate from high school in 2023 and will play one more season at Canutillo.

Then it will be off to Stanford, a power five school that competes in the Pac-12.

As a junior last season, Martin put up some stellar numbers.

He rushed for 2,737 yards, 29 touchdowns, along with 376 receiving yards and 6 touchdown receptions.

The future Stanford Cardinal earned first team All-State honors in Class 5A by the Texas Sportswriters Association.

Martin helped lead the Canutillo Eagles to an 11-2 record last season along with two wins in the playoffs.

Martin had several Division 1 offers that included, UTEP, Baylor, Kansas and UNLV.
