Texas Rescue Patrol warns of Fourth of July dangers 
EL PASO, Texas– Red Sands, a popular area for off-roaders in El Paso, is filled with people ready to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The Texas Rescue Patrol wants to remind the community of the dangers that can occur during this time.
Jamil Moutran, Chief of Texas Rescue Patrol, tells ABC-7 they usually receive calls this holiday weekend.
The calls range from minor injuries to something more serious that requires ambulance transport.
The Texas Rescue Patrol is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with local law enforcement agencies to provide EMS services and Search and Rescue services in El Paso County.
Some safety tips he gives to people going to Red Sands is to have situational awareness while lighting fireworks.
He said the Red Sands area has a lot of dry brush and that a fire can occur at any time– bringing the appropriate equipment is recommended before lighting fireworks.
He reminds the public not to drink and drive or to drink and ride on ATVs.
"If you intend to go out into the desert areas and off-road, make sure that you're always wearing the proper safety equipment, helmet.. eye protection, proper lighting for your off-road vehicle and of course never allow your children to operate a vehicle that's not designed for their age group,” said Moutran.
