More than a thousand migrants continue to cross into the El Paso sector every day

EL PASO, Texas - Border Patrol continues to report well over 1,000 migrant crossings per day in the El Paso sector.

El Paso sector Border Patrol Chief Gloria Chavez reported last week that agents were seeing around 1,300 migrant encounters per day in September. A spokesperson from Border Patrol says that number has gone up in recent days but was unable to give an exact number.

While appearing on ABC's "This Week", El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser said that the El Paso Sector has seen around 2,000 encounters on Friday, September 16th.

Mayor Leeser said there were no longer migrants living in the streets of downtown El Paso as of Sunday, and thanked NGOs for helping provide living situations for migrants.

The mayor also said in the last few days, they have not had any people released into the streets of El Paso.
