Man killed in head-on crash he triggered in northeast El Paso that left 2 others hospitalized
EL PASO, Texas -- A man was killed after his car veered into on-coming traffic and crashed head-on into a minivan Monday afternoon along a northeast El Paso street, police said Tuesday.
That collision happened around 2 p.m. Monday in the 12000 block of McCombs.
Police on Tuesday identified the deceased as 37-year-old Michael Aceto.
The driver of the minivan, 59-year-old Josefa Ortiz Silva, and her passenger, identified only as a 64-year-old man, were hospitalized at University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators were still trying to determine what caused Aceto to cross over into on-coming traffic, triggering the deadly head-on crash.
Monday afternoon's fatal collision was the latest in a spate of crashes across the Borderland over a several day period that left five people dead and others clinging to life.
Aceto was El Paso's 29 traffic fatality of this year, according to police.
