Sun Metro bus driver hurt after crashing into east El Paso home
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A Sun Metro bus crashed into an east El Paso home early Friday morning, causing significant damage and sending the bus driver to the hospital.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Anise Drive.
Officials said the bus driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for observation; no other injuries were reported and it was unclear whether anyone was inside the home at the time of the crash.
El Paso police were investigating the crash, but offered no initial indication as to what may have caused it.
The City of El Paso, which operates the Sun Metro transit system, said it would also be conducting an internal review of the incident. A spokesperson said the bus was equipped with cameras and that footage would be retrieved and viewed.
The city said the homeowner could file a claim with the City Attorney's Office for compensation over the damage done to their property. Although the damage to the home appeared to extensive, no damage estimate was immediately available.
