ABC-7 First: Tornado, hail, and wind threat for eastern counties and New Mexico
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- There is a marginal risk of strong to severe thunderstorms east of the Rio Grande this afternoon and evening.
The El Paso region will experience warm and dry conditions for most of the week, with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms this evening in the Sacramento Mountains and Hudspeth County.
A few storms could bring gusty winds and small hail.
The upper trough responsible for recent thunderstorms, winds, and dust is moving northeast, leaving just enough moisture and instability to potentially trigger isolated storms in eastern Otero and Hudspeth Counties.
After tonight, drier air will push into the area, dropping moisture levels and bringing mostly clear skies.
An upper-level ridge will spread across the region, keeping conditions dry through the weekend and causing temperatures to climb 5 to 15 degrees above average. Near-record highs are expected from Wednesday through Saturday, with a slight chance of reaching 90 degrees on October 26.
