House committee to discuss lifting of Title 42, impact on El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The House of Representatives Homeland Security Border Security and Enforcement Subcommittee is holding a hearing Monday. They will be "examining DHS’ failure to prepare for the termination of Title 42."
Witnesses include Benjamine “Carry” Huffman, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and Blas Nuñez-Neto, Assistant Secretary for Border and Immigration Policy Office.
Here in El Paso, information from the city's migrant dashboard shows that on average, 247 migrants are processed and released daily.
CBP agents encounter an average of 634 migrants a day, and about 1,682 migrants are taken into CBP custody daily. According to the website, these are people whose intended destination is either Chicago or New York city.
