2010 Murder Rate Not Seen Since 1965

Officials said the years of 1964, 1965 amd 2010 are the only years — in the last 50 years — that recorded single digit murders.
The lowest number of murders recorded since 1960 has been five. The year with the highest number of murders was 56 in 1993.
The numbers recorded for the years 1960 to 1965 included murders that occurred within city limits and the county of El Paso, combined, according to UCR data in Austin, Texas.
