Young Woman Charged In Crash That Killed Two Of Her Friends
The woman behind the wheel during a crash that killed two of her friends after a night of celebration is now facing charges.
El Paso Police say newly released toxicology results show Gabriela Delgado, 20, was drunk when she failed to yield the right-of-way to another vehicle at the intersection of Lee and Turner back on January 20th.
Delgado’s 2007 Chevy Aveo was hit by a Dodge Charger. Two of her backseat passengers, Evalynn Rose, 21, and Jeanette Lazaro, 21, died at the scene.
Friends tell ABC-7 the group had been out for Rose’s birthday. The crash happened at 2:14 a.m. according to investigators.
The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Arturo Vasquez. In a police affidavit obtained by the ABC-7 I-team, investigators said Vasquez had been drinking after spending the evening at a nearby bar and grill. Because police believe he was not responsible for the crash, Vasquez is only facing a charge of DWI.
Delgado was booked into the El Paso County Jail Tuesday evening on two counts of intoxicated manslaughter and two counts of intoxicated assault. Her bond totaled $130,000.
