Chase near DACC Central Campus involving Border Patrol ends in crash
New Mexico State University Police are searching for one person involved in a crash on I-10 just west of the DACC Central Campus.
Agents were chasing a car when the driver crashed near the campus.
According to the NMSU’s website, five people got out of the car and fled into the campus. NMSU police took four people into custody within a couple of minutes, with one officer sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The other person is described as a disheveled man possibly injured in the crash. The person may still be on campus.
People in the area are being asked to report any suspicious activity.
The DACC Central Campus was briefly put on lock down at the beginning of the incident, when it was not clear what was happening, but that has since been lifted.
According to police, there are no indications that the suspect is armed or dangerous to the community.
It’s not know why the Border Patrol was in pursuit of the car, other than the driver refused to stop for their agents.
No other evidence of criminal activity has been discovered on campus.
