Pebble Hills extension now open to Far East El Paso residents
The City of El Paso opened the eagerly anticipated Pebble Hills Blvd extension to motorists Friday afternoon.
Now drivers are able to access Loop 375 without having to drive south to Zaragoza and Montwood. “Before people had to circle around to get to the Loop. Now they are just going to pass right through Pebbles Hills” said Cyndi Dietrich.
The extension means Pebble Hills now stretches from Tierra Mina Drive to Zaragoza.
This $2.5 million project includes the installation of a new storm sewer system, sanitary and sewer lines, and upgraded traffic signals at Zaragoza.
“My promise to the residents of District 5 was to connect Pebble Hills through Zaragoza and alleviate some of the congestion in other major intersections in our District,” said District 5 City Rep. Michel Noe.
The new extension not only makes it easier for drivers, but also for pedestrians and bikers, with new landscaping, ADA compliant sidewalks with illumination, and dark sky complaint street lighting.
Bike lanes on eastbound lanes have been painted green to clarify the area for bikes.
The project was completed in six months and on time, Dietrich said. “It’s been a big opportunity for us to have helped in operating with this project.” said Dietrich.
