Car carrier fire led to Sunday morning shutdown of I-10 east near Las Cruces, snarling traffic
A multi-vehicle fire on a car carrier trailer Sunday morning led to the closure of Interstate-10 eastbound, just south of Las Cruces for about an hour and a half, snarling traffic.
The closure at milepost 145 happened about 10:30 a.m. as fire crews worked to put out the flames.
New Mexico Dept. of Transportation officials said I-10 had fully reopened and traffic flow had returned to normal by noon.
An NMDOT spokeswoman told ABC-7 that there were no injuries in the fire.
There was no immediate word on what ignited the highway fire.
