EP District Atty: Felony Charges Against UTEP Players Dropped
EL PASO, TX. – El Paso County District Attorney Jaime Esparza announced Wednesday that all felony charges against five current UTEP football players and a former playerarrested after fighting outside a downtown nightclub have been dropped.
The six individualswere arrestedearlier this yearfor allegedly fighting outside an El Paso nightclub and were subsequently charged with various felonies.
Wednesday, the district attorney dropped the felony charges against Tufick Shadrawy butaddedone additional misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. Charges against Shadrawy and Brian Wilkins for assault on a public servant andShadrawy’s charge of attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer were among those dropped.
The remaining charges against the other players remain as they are:
Isaiah Carter – public intoxication Emeri Spence – interference with public duties, resisting arrest Damon Cromartie – disorderly conduct Brian Wilkins – resisting arrest, interference with public duties Brandon Thigpen – public intoxication
Three of the current players have been placed on indefinite probation. UTEP Football Coach Mike Price said the issue will be discussed with the players Wednesday afternoon after practice and that he would not comment at this time.
