Two Killed, Five Hospitalized In Early Morning Wreck
El Paso police blocked Lee Blvd. for more than six hours while investigators looked into a deadly wreck.
It happened at 2:14 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Lee and Turner Rd. in far east El Paso.
Police said a Dodge Charger southbound on Lee hit a Chevy Aveo headed east on Turner in the intersection.
Five people, all in their early 20s, were in the Aveo. Two women in the backseat died on the scene. The three other people in the car were taken to area hospitals with various injuries. Police said none of them was wearing a seatbelt.
The man and woman in the Charger, also in their early 20s, are being treated at a hospital for their injuries.
Police said alcohol is a contributing factor to the wreck.
The intersection of Turner and Lee is a two-way stop, with traffic on Turner yielding to cars on Lee. Police are still investigating who caused the crash.
