UTEP fans show their pride, support during first conference game

The University of Texas at El Paso men’s basketball team played their first game since university officials announced they kicked McKenzie Moore, Jalen Ragland and Justin Crosgile off the team for suspected sports betting.

Fans ABC 7 spoke with at the UTEP game Thursday evening say the recent investigation against three former players isn’t going to stop them from attending games.

Miner basketball fans have spirit.

“When we’re down you need the community support for us to go back up again. Just think about yourself when you have a down moment in your life your family, friends will cheer you up and that’s exactly what we need right now,” fan Muhammad Saadsheikh said.

Those at the first conference game Thursday night at the Haskins Center say they’re supporting their miners through thick and thin. However, many were talking about the recent investigation, and some say it not only impacts the team but also the city.

“It affects not only the team but all of El Paso in general,” Saadsheikh said.

Fans say nothing can beat the feeling of cheering on the UTEP men’s basketball team.
