Sun Metro making changes to 17 routes
Beginning Sunday, February 24, 2013, Sun Metro will make modifications to 17 routes to include several route extension and various additional trips to improve overall service.
One of the significant changes includes the restructuring of Route 9 Downtown Shopping Circulator to cover portion of Route 8, which will be deactivated.
Routes 1, 10, 11, 14, 15, 33 and 204 will experience temporary route changes in the Downtown area, in anticipation of the various, upcoming construction projects along or near Santa Fe Street and Franklin Avenue.
Another noteworthy modification is the extension of Route 31 Fort Bliss/East Side Connector, which will now provide service to the 5th Brigade housing area, east of Purple Heart Blvd., also known as Loop 375. The route also will now enter and exit through the Robert E. Lee Gate.
Passengers also will notice change in the identification system for the bus bays at the Downtown Transfer Center, the Five Points Transit Terminal and the East Side Transit Terminal. The bus bays will change from a numeric system to an alpha system.
Route 50 Mesquite Hills, which is a collaborative route between Sun Metro and Project Amistad, will reduce its evening service and increase its mid-day service. SUN METRO SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS FOR 02.24.13
BUS BAY IDENTIFICATIONS will be updated at the Downtown Transfer Center, the Five Points Transit Terminal and the East Side Transit Terminal. The bus bays will change from a numeric system to an alpha system.
ROUTES 1, 10, 33 AND 204 will experience TEMPORARY minor route changes in the Downtown area due to upcoming construction.
ROUTE 8 COURT DISTRICT CIRCULATOR will be deactivated. The service area will now be covered by Route 9.
ROUTE 9 DOWNTOWN SHOPPING DISTRICT CIRCULATOR will be extended to provide service Monday- Sunday to the Downtown Transfer Center, the Union Plaza Transit Terminal, the Federal and County Court Houses, as well as the Paso Del Norte Bridge, and Downtown Shopping District.
ROUTE 11 MESITA VIA KERN PLACE will experience TEMPORARY minor route changes in the Downtown area due to upcoming construction. The route also will experience minor adjustments to its Saturday and Sunday schedules.
ROUTE 13 CORONADO HILLS CIRCULATOR will experience minor schedule adjustments to its Sunday schedule only.
ROUTE 14 WESTWIND will TEMPORARILY travel along Oregon between Paisano and Missouri. Outbound trips traveling north will now service Bay E at the Glory Road Transfer Center and inbound trips traveling south will continue to service Bay A.
ROUTE 15 MESA will TEMPORARILY travel along Oregon between Paisano and Missouri. Outbound trips traveling north will now service Bay E at the Glory Road Transfer Center and inbound trips traveling south will continue to service Bay B.
ROUTE 18 WESTSIDE EXPRESS will see additional trips during the peak morning and evening hours.
ROUTE 31 FORT BLISS/EASTSIDE CONNECTOR will experience minor route and schedule changes to extend the route to cover the 5th Brigade housing area, east Loop 375. The route also will enter and exit through the Robert E. Lee Gate.
ROUTES 32 AND 36 will experience minor route and schedule changes Monday-Sunday to extend the route to the intersection of Dyer and Broaddus.
ROUTE 52 PEBBLE HILLS will experience minor schedule adjustments.
ROUTE 66 LANCASTER VIA NORTH LOOP will experience minor schedule adjustments Monday-Friday.
ROUTE 69 GEORGE DIETER will experience minor schedule adjustments Monday-Saturday.
PROJECT AMISTAD’S ROUTE 50 MESQUITE HILLS will reduce its evening service and increase its mid-day service.
COUNTY ROUTE 10 has experienced schedule adjustments to allow the route to service the Westside Transfer Center.
