blanca del valle a few weeks public information officer blanca del valle a few weeks back … i sorta chuckled and skipped to the next email. but then we had snowmageddon 2015. at the airport … the official measuring station we had more than 8 inches … making it the 6th largest snow event in el paso history. needless to say … after the snow melted … i started searching for that email. it shared some tips from the department of public safety on how to “winterize” your vehicl and a list of emergency supplies to keep in your car. blankets/sleeping bags, extra clothing, gloves and a hat. cell phone, radio, flashlight and extra batteries. first-aid kit and pocket knife. high calorie, non-perishable food and bottled water. bag of sand or cat litter to provide traction for tires. windshield scraper, tool kit, booster cables, tow rope and a shovel. and remember before you scoff at the need to load up your car with all of the above … remember just a few hours to our east … near the i-10 and i-20 interchange some drivers were stuck in their vehicles for hours and hours. so, count me among those who will be winterizing their vehicle from here on out. rick cabrera. abc-7 listens. it was the first for the new year… coming up, how one fort bliss family got
