Paris security high weeks after attacks
Things are very different now, people have returned to the streets and locals say they can go about their lives comfortably, but a few noticeable changes remain.
“There was a great show of military force, which is something I hadn’t seen before,” said Rosa Rodela, a local French teacher who travels regularly to France.
She’s talking about the military police, who had small details patrolling popular areas like town plazas and tourist destinations.
The military police, however, seemed to be serving their purpose.
“The first time I saw them I was a little freaked out because there’s these guys walking around with berets and huge guns and all that stuff. But I felt like if anything happens they’re there,” said Adrian Palacios, one of Rodela’s French students who went with her on the trip.
Locals told us for the most part their everyday lives weren’t really affected. but some security measures did cut into their days. One night as people headed into the metro everyone was evacuated from the station, officials saying it was a security prevention.
“Whenever there is a package left if somebody forgets something in the metro they immediately shut down the metro, it’s a suspicious package, and so that’s a whole lot more added security than there would be before,” Rodela said.
